Pastor Simon Obert illustrates the concept of being a “new creation” in Christ, drawing parallels between the life cycle of a butterfly and the transformation that occurs when one becomes a follower of Jesus. Pastor Simon emphasizes that when we accept Christ, we are no longer defined by our past or the world’s standards, but by the new identity and purpose God has given us.
As new creations in Christ, we are called to live differently than the world, with a focus on serving others and reflecting the character of Christ. The early church was known for its compassion and care for the poor and needy, which should be a natural outflow of our new identity in Christ. We should offer ourselves as “instruments of righteousness” to God, using our lives to glorify Him and advance His kingdom.
As new creations, we have the power to do “greater things” than even Jesus did during His earthly ministry… not due to our own abilities, but because we have the Holy Spirit living within us, empowering us to live and serve in a way that reflects the transformative work of Yeshua.
