Do This In Remembrance Of Me

Pastor Michael Walker focuses on the significance of the Lord’s Supper and the importance of remembering God’s work in our lives. We need to be reminded of the deeper meaning behind holidays like Memorial Day, as well as the sacrifices made by those who served our country. The Lord’s Supper was a memorial feast instituted by Jesus to help us remember Him and all He has done for us, instituted during the Passover meal, which was an annual memorial feast celebrating the Israelites’ deliverance from slavery in Egypt. Jesus was now establishing a new memorial feast to remember Him and His sacrifice, which would fulfill the meaning of the Passover.

Pastor Michael outlines seven things the Lord’s Supper is meant to help us remember:

  1. Our worth and the high price paid for our salvation
  2. God’s unconditional love for us
  3. Jesus’ sacrifice and call to deny ourselves and follow Him
  4. Our need for Jesus and to have Him as part of our lives
  5. That it is Jesus’ blood, not our own works, that saves us
  6. Our unity and oneness as believers in Christ
  7. Our future hope and eternal life with Jesus
